I think I can take a break now and get back to others later, if you're still willing to go for that walk? I can be at Blossomcrown Park in around twenty minutes if that isn't too soon.
{ since he'd been at home when he'd made the announcement, he does need to take some time to make his way to the teleporter and beyond. blossomcrown park, at least, isn't the furthest away if you know the right shortcuts.
he has pulled on an off-white jacket--one that ayaka picked out for him--on top of the black turtleneck top and plain black pull on shoes. in fact, the jacket is the only splash of colour--a stark contrast to his clothes from home. at the moment the weather seems pleasant enough that he didn't feel the need to dress more warmly.
he does, at least remember his phone.
he does not, however, remember an umbrella for how finicky the weather has been lately.
when aether arrives, he'll step away from the entrance to meet him. }
I hope you've started to settle in a little more since we last spoke?
[Aether is already there when Ayato arrives. He looks exactly the same as always, never quite feeling like getting a new set of clothes. He's too busy for shopping, he has so many places to explore and so many quests to check out!
But for now it's time to relax and take in the scenery of greens and cherry blossom pink. Sadly, the traveler did not think of getting the umbrella either, but hopefully the rain won't surprise them (famous last words).
Aether greets Ayato with a bright, warm smile.]
I'm settling in okay, I think! I also got to catch up with many people from Teyvat. I was surprised how many familiar faces are here.
[Not many of them remembered him, but he's slowly reconnecting with them.]
{ there is plenty to keep people busy here, but given the amount of worry he's put on ayaka at home, he couldn't say no to her when she requests his time. he's rescheduled where needed, and in the end having clothes of this world rather than home feels more fitting when his name is just a name here. commissioner no longer has any standing, at least to most of the people here.
granted, his new title may have changed that, but it still doesn't change the fact he dislikes public appearances, as much as they may be necessary at times. }
That's a relief. I probably should have mentioned some of the others, though I could understand the urgency to see your sister.
{ and in all honesty, he has no idea who knows who. he could never have given aether a list to be prepared for. }
[There's an understanding nod from Aether and frankly, he could never expect from Ayato to give him a full list of everyone along with information if they remember him or not. Especially not when half of the people out there are not even from Inazuma.]
It's perfectly fine, I didn't ask either. You gave me the information I wanted.
[Aether really wished to (finally) see his sister more than anything else.]
Plus, I ran into others later. It turned out that Thoma and Ayaka remembered me. So did Tighnari and Xingqiu.
[It's not a terribly long list, but that doesn't seem to discourage him. He looks a little wistful though.]
...But regardless if they knew me or not, they were all willing to hear me out and give me a chance. [Except Childe... that one took a bit more convincing.] I'm very grateful for that.
[He really has met a lot of wonderful people during his journey. And so did his sister.]
{ that's true, there are people he's met here that he would never had a chance to back in teyvat. been on quests with a few of them by now, had drinks with others. the smile he gives in return is simple, which is probably for the best as his blood runs cold at aether's next words.
granted, it's hard to tell anything is wrong at all. as commissioner he's learned to keep composed no matter the situation, to play the lines he needs to for the best outcome.
it turned out that thoma and ayaka remembered me.
he'd known about ayaka for a few weeks by now. he hadn't dared to ask thoma a thing. blissful ignorance, as it were. }
They'll be fine with time, I'm sure. { his voice stays calm and collected, but it's hard to focus other than automatically continuing on. } After all, I'm sure they're equally as curious as I am about you.
[He has a feeling that something he said affected Ayato and yet he can't quite confirm his suspicions. His friend can be hard to read, but that really shouldn't be surprising considering his role as a commissioner.
So for now, Aether merely nods.]
I'm sure of it.
[Then he continues on.]
They're all just the same as I remember them. They remember the same things I do... just not with me in the picture.
[It's like with Wanderer trying to erase his existence from the world. Even though he was no longer there, the results of the events remained unchanged and the people Aether were still there, just like he remembered them. So perhaps this is exactly why no matter if it's him or his sister, the world and its events stayed just the same.
{ his breathing stays regular, eyes focused on the path ahead as he indicates for them to walk. conversation had halted it, but there's no need to keep their feet from moving.
except making the blur of thoughts whirling through his head, threatening to spill out. if anything, it's selfish to think he should be concerned about this. aether and lumine both have countless people who don't remember them. and yet-- }
Exactly as I understood it, yes. Ayaka recounted her experiences to me when we first realised we knew of a different traveler each. It may not have been in detail, but it was enough to confirm my suspicions that the stories aligned to a point. Since you are different people I imagine words exchanged would have differed, but no one's memory is good enough to recount that.
[He walks along, watching Ayato carefully as Aether can't shake off a feeling that there's something amiss. Ayato speaks calmly, like always, there's nothing in his expression that would indicate worry. And yet...]
Does... it bother you?
[Aether's voice is quiet when he asks that, his brows furrow up a little in concern.]
Does it bother you that Ayaka and Thoma don't remember the same things you do?
[He understands. It means they are not the same Ayaka and Thoma that have been by Ayato's side, yet they are exactly the same, with the same goals, worries, the same smiles. It's complicated.]
{ he probably shouldn't be surprised, not knowing how observant lumine can be at times as well. both of them seem to have an aptitude for predicting things like this, and while he has full confidence he hasn't slipped up, it's a reasonable question to ask, isn't it?
it's hardly a secret what the both of them mean to him. }
Perhaps more than it should. After all, I imagine you feel it even more. { and really he needs time to sit down and let this sink in as well. even if it's not unexpected. } It must hurt, surely, for people who you've come to see as a dear friend say they don't remember you. I'm not so cruel to make this about me right now.
[He's silent, just listening to Ayato, watching him with soft, understanding eyes. It takes a longer moment before Aether says anything.]
I won't lie and say that it doesn't hurt. [He admits quietly.] But at the same time, I can't be sad or upset about this, especially when I know that everyone is willing to give me a chance.
[He takes a few steps ahead to stand in front of Ayato, to catch his hands in his own, squeezing them. His gaze is fixed on the other, sincere and hopeful.]
Just like it is with you - you led me to your home, offered me comfort even though it was the very first time we met. And now you're here with me, taking a stroll through the park. [He smiles, warm and gentle.] We're already friends so how can I be sad about this?
[It's difficult and complicated, he knows. The ache in his heart will remain there for now, but he's sure with time, it'll stop mattering who remembers him and who doesn't. As long as he can call them friends again, as long as he can do something for them, as long as they can have many warm memories together nothing else matters.]
As for Ayaka and Thoma, I'm sure they cherish and love you just the same way they did back in Inazuma.
{ especially when i know that everyone is willing to give me a chance
he isn't sure he would have been quite so open to it had ayaka not shared the details either. it offers only guilt as aether kindly reaches for his hands, holds them and squeezes them in his own. his eyes dip down to watch, and really it's amusing that even through the gloves there's a mockery of warmth that spills between them--the effects of this world ever present.
he opens his mouth to respond, (how can i be sad about this?) because he can think of a number of reasons. it's obvious in the way they speak to one another now, friends yes but there's a thin veil of stepping on egg shells where neither of them really know how things will feel.
and it's only more prevalent when aether continues to talk. }
Being here certainly changes things. { but this time he allows his voice to sound as distant as it feels } It's a wonder what being away from home can do, isn't it? Though I'd agree it isn't necessarily a bad thing. { half the conversation is with himself though, so he won't blame aether if some of this doesn't make sense.
and as if the skies pity them both, small patters of water start to drop. }
[He's aware that things would've been different if Ayaka didn't talk about him. Maybe it would have taken him a lot time to win Ayato's trust, but Aether is certain he would still offer his assistance to the commissioner.
Still, is there really a point to consider what ifs? They started on a better note and even though this friendship still needs time to grow, Aether can tell they'll be just fine. Ayato's hands feel warm in his own, he's concerned for him, even though there seems to be something else troubling him as well.
Aether steps a little closer as the first droplets of rain hit his skin.]
That's true... it makes you realize a lot of things that you've never even considered. [Another step closer, leaving just a bit of space between them. Familiar, yet hopefully not too close to make this uncomfortable.] Like now I know that all of you would get along just fine with my sister too.
[He grins a little, trying as much as possible to add a positive to this difficult situation.]
{ perhaps if he hadn't been caught up in his own thoughts he would have been more considerate of not thinking of the what ifs right now. sadly, he has a tendency to overthink--it comes part of the parcel from what he's had to work through back home. even here and now it's a reminder of what he's actually had time to think over and realise about how futile things feel back home at times.
but at least aether gives him that hook, that lifeline of sorts, to hold onto. he laughs, a small chuckle under his breath as he thinks about that comment properly. }
How could we not? You're both rather charming in your own ways.
[The small chuckle that Ayato lets out makes Aether smile only more. It's warm and almost relieved, as he's happy he managed to give the other something to hold onto. His hands squeeze Ayato's a little more, too.]
I'm glad you think so. [The rain is still but a drizzle, but it already managed to soak Aether's hair enough to make it stick to his face. His golden eyes seem to shine.] Hopefully, you won't change your mind once you get to know me better.
[A soft laugh escapes him at his own joke.
The rain remains ignored for the time being as if acknowledging it would ruin this gentle moment.]
{ it's a relief that the subject starts to pass, and they can focus on going forward instead of the past. besides, so far he has no reason to think any worse of either of them. }
I very much doubt that will be the case. After all you've done for us, it would be rather nonsensical.
{ even if the way things were is different, it doesn't change the fact in some world he is very much indebted to aether.
the rain is doing good work on both of them by now though, enough that even he can't really hide uncomfortable it is as his hair sticks to his face and neck. both of them should have known better to come out without an umbrella, especially when there's that feeling of warmth under his gloves from where their hands are still connected. }
Don't think about it this way. You're not indebted to me. It's normal to help a friend.
[He doesn't want the other to feel like he's forced to do something for this strange traveler. Friendship shouldn't be based on favours.
As the rain soaks them both, Aether's brain starts screaming at him that they should move and find some shelter or else they will both make Thoma worry that they'll catch a cold. Yet, for some strange reason, there's warmth between them and maybe it's also Aether's fondness that makes him lean a little closer.]
I just enjoy your company. Yours, Ayaka's and Thoma's. Whenever I went to visit, if one of you had the time, you always made me feel welcomed.
[And it's true even now.
He stands on his toes, as if trying to get even closer.]
I don't think of it as being indebted, at least not anymore. Though that doesn't mean I'm not grateful.
{ his voice seems to be becoming more of a murmur though, as though he's dazed. even when he blinks the rainwater seems to stay heavier now. really, the way this world worked was incredibly unfair at times. for someone who had been so touch starved in inazuma, it feels all too easy to give in to the temptation when the rain makes his skin sing for it. }
You'll always be welcome.
{ and then he feels himself drawn further forward towards the warmth before he can think at all. it's impulsion that has him leaning until his lips meet aether's, firm but not harsh, and only after a few long moments when the tingling on his mouth seems to cease does he pull back. }
[Being grateful is definitely something he can accepted, especially when he also feels this way. A part of him wants to offer for them to finally find shelter. It really won't do them any good to stay in the rain like this.
...But the other part of him is dazed, longing for the warmth that is between them. And his breath catches when Ayato leans closer. Their lips meet and Aether's eyes close. Without thinking he gives in to the moment, responding with a gentle press of his own lips. It feels so good and warm.
His heart beats faster in his chest and it takes a moment for him to even realize what he's - what they are doing. He breathes shakily when they part from the kiss, golden eyes looking wide up at the other while his face burns bright red.
First Thoma, now Ayato... he also kissed Ayaka on the hand. How is he going to walk into their house without burning bright red?!]
T-this rain... is really dangerous... [He's trying so badly to ignore what just happened and stay calm!!]
{ it's strange how it feels the air stills for a moment--even with the rain pouring down around them--as time seems to stand still. it takes a moment to register that he's even pulled back, but even then the only thing that greets aether is a smile. he may or may not find it incredibly amusing how red in the face the other goes after the action, while ayato looks completely unaffected. }
And here I thought you'd spent all this time hoping for it. Not to worry, we can keep it our little secret. { he glances up after, frowning at the rain. } It does seem as though our walk will have to be cut short, however.
[Is that how he looked like?! He didn't even realize, but the teasing makes him blush all the more. Even the tips of his ears burn red and he can feel that.
The fact that Ayato does not seem affected by what just happened in any way adds up to Aether's embarrassment, but he's trying to ignore it.]
I doubt they'd blame you for it. After all, I've forgotten an umbrella fairly often.
{ the few days megumi spent with them and nagged him about it he'd started to remember, but he's been awfully forgetful of small things like this lately. it's a wonder he has his phone with him half the time. }
We both forgot it today. They have all the right to get angry.
[But he smiles. He doesn't think either Ayaka or Thoma would truly blame him or Ayato for anything. Still, he doesn't want them to worry. Or Ayato to actually get sick here.]
{ it takes a lot for that to happen, aether please. }
But I would much rather not get sick.
{ he won't mention he'd had to call on thoma a couple of days ago to fetch him an umbrella as he got caught in the exact same park -- so maybe out of the two of them thoma would have more reason to be exasperated with him. }
You're right though, as soon as we're in the city it should be safer.
It's a shame, it wasn't like this at all last month. I was rather looking forward to our walk, though-- { his head tilts to look down towards him, and he blinks, seeming sad } Was it really that bad?
{ of course, his act would be more convincing if another sneeze didn't make itself known, and he has to twist to sneeze into his arm. }
We can rearrange it for anoth- { and another sneeze, followed by a small sniffle. } another time. Sadly there isn't much shelter in the area, so we'll just need to head back.
Do you have a change of clothes yet, or do you still only have your clothes from home?
Oh? That's good to hear. { he smiles. } I went with Ayaka not long after we arrived. Actually, she picked out these clothes for me.
{ he isn't bothered he didn't pick any out for himself, he hadn't had the patience to at the time. he definitely needs to go again at some point though. }
My clothes may be a little big for you, but I may have something that could work. It wouldn't be good for you to get warm only to be stuck without anything to wear.
I see. I'm looking forward to shopping with my sister... [He smiles, nostalgic.] It feels like we haven't done that in ages.
[Not wrong.
At the mention of the clothes, Aether laughs softly.]
Anything will be fine, really. I just appreciate the gesture. And truth to be told, I got stuck in the rain with Thoma like this before and he had to leant me some of his clothes as well--
[Suddenly, Aether trails off, his eyes widen and his cheeks grow bright red.
He kissed with Thoma, too. Then Thoma borrowed him some clothes to change... Is this going to be a pattern?!]
[So Ayato is definitely right. It has been a long time even counting from the beginning of Aether's journey through Teyvat. Even if many questions are still left unanswered, the traveler wishes to enjoy his and his sister's reunion for as long as it may last.
...But then there's the way Aether blushes, along with his own words. Ayato must know what it means and the boy is almost surprised to not hear some teasing.]
Thoma is very kind. [He says quietly. Honestly, there's no lie in that. Thoma is incredibly kind and warm, and Aether appreciates that with his entire heart.
But just as much, he also cherishes Ayato's kindness. So he follows the other easily, happy to be out of the rain.]
{ but he won't push for more information, they'll tell him what he needs to know -or at least he hopes so given the state of things.
and no teasing will come on the subject, as he struggles with himself over that awful feeling that rushed through him at the comment. }
That he is. { aether is not imagining it that his words are a little more clipped. not unfriendly, just as though he's distracted--thinking about something else. as soon as they see the apartment block ahead, he'll make a beeline for it, indicating for aether to keep up. }
[He's observing Ayato with a small crease of his brow. Something he said impacted the other but he's not quite sure how or why. His friend appears to be oddly distracted, but Aether follows him nonetheless.
Ah? { he blinks, pulling himself from his thoughts again, only to smile at aether. }
It isn't your fault, don't worry. Something just occurred to me, that is all.
{ he's never really had that feeling before. protectiveness? of course. but this is another level he hadn't expected, and since he's pretty much done the same it definitely seems silly to let that feeling continue, it's more analysing what it felt like and the connotations of it more than anything else. }
[Aether gives his companion a long look as if studying his smile, the way he blinked, the way he speaks those words.]
...It's about Thoma, isn't it?
[Maybe it's just a hunch, but at the same time he can't really think of anything else. The change happened when he mentioned Thoma and blushed remembering their encounter in the rain.
Then it hits him.
Is Ayato bothered about Thoma and Aether kissing? But... the other wasn't bothered when he kissed the traveler? So maybe this isn't it?]
Dear me, either you're much more observant than your sister or I'm becoming much worse at hiding anything now. Hopefully the former.
{ he sighs, glancing away. they need to keep walking though, even if they've come out the other side now. the rain isn't here, but they're already wet from it. }
It is though, yes. About Thoma, I mean. { his gaze stays fixed ahead, looking down the street they need to travel down towards the apartments. } I'm rational to know the rain is at fault, Aether, so you needn't worry about it. It was just interesting to feel jealousy in this context.
[They need to keep walking, it's true. The rain was quite merciless, leaving them soaked to the bone and Aether is aware that this may cause trouble for them again. He doesn't want any awkwardness to linger, even if he's more than sure Ayato wouldn't be bothered by whatever his actions could be. The other would likely use them to tease the traveler though...
A soft sigh escapes Aether's lips.]
Your expression changed when I talked about Thoma... and then you gave me a pretty distant answer when I talked about him again. It got me thinking.
[But now that he has his suspicions confirmed, and moreover, Ayato mentions feeling jealousy, this leads Aether to another conclusion - that there is something more between Ayato and Thoma than he initially thought. Maybe this is exactly why Ayato was so bothered by being from a different version of Teyvat than Thoma is.
A frown settles on Aether's face. The fact that he shared a kiss with Thoma suddenly makes him feel really bad. He knows it wasn't their fault that it happened and yet it still doesn't sit well with him.]
I can't say I enjoy this place. [He says.] People should be able to reserve their kisses for those they care about the most.
I was thinking. { he does huff out a laugh at that. } You really shouldn't keep frowning like that though, I already said I understand the situation. The rain is what it is. { and since he's pretty much said it without literally saying it, he'll clarify it now: } The change to our relationship is relatively new, so feeling that way caught me off guard as well. I don't want you to feel guilty for something you can't help. Besides, I just kissed you as well, didn't I?
I am not in need of any sort of company, all I need is an answer to some questions.
1. You are from a parallel universe, I take it that this means that there is also a parallel version of every person you have met, not?
2. Can you tell me what part Irminsul plays in all of this? Is it connected to the Teyvat I know and the one you know? Or are there also two Irminsul trees?
3. Are there others able to change their fate the way you have done?
We have all the time in the world. So do take yours.
Are you sure you don't want to meet? We could discuss it better.
As for your questions:
1. Yes, but it appears that the events in both versions of Teyvat are exactly the same.
2. I'm not sure. I guess it is possible that each parallel world has its own Irminsul.
3. Perhaps the reason why I can change my fate is because I am not from Teyvat, thus I am not bound by its rules. There's still too much that I don't know, but if I'll learn something useful I'll make sure to let you know.
[He needs to think about those answers for a bit so the other message comes in later.]
But your role isn't.
[More thinking.]
It might mean both the Irmunsul trees are connected. Perhaps by their roots. Therefore the fates of those coming from Teyvat are predetermined and yours is not.
Isn't it odd to meet those you know from your Teyvat, and they only know your sister as their companion?
Your theory may be right, but then again I don't know enough about Irminsul to really tell.
It's very odd to meet someone who you were friends with, only to find out that they remember your lost sister instead. But I suppose Lumine felt just like me. It's good that we both have people who remember us here.
Lesser Lord Kusanali is being vague about it as well.
[He just wants to know if there is some way. If there is some sort of universe where he would be able to bend his fate. To change it enough to make sure that those who have never deserved to die, could live long and fulfilling lives. Or where his creator would have never created him and no one had to suffer because of him at all.
Because his own fate, yes, it was unchangeable. There was lying something ahead of him, yet what it was would remain unclear.]
You don't think anything of it? You take that as it is? Lumine is not you and you are not Lumine. To humans and even to beings like you, bonds are important, not?
[To him bonds are just as important, yet he refuses to ever get into that again. There's only so much things he could ruin.]
I believe that if I managed to befriend someone once, I have a good chance to do it again. They're exactly the same people as I remember them. I'm happy that Lumine got to meet them.
...And the same goes for you. I wish for us to get to know one another better.
That is nonsense. They might be the same people, you are not their same friend. Perhaps their fates are the same, yet you are the one that differs. And if they accept your offer of friendship, that might differ.
[A couple of minutes later the second message arrives.]
How gullible to think that everyone would accept your friendship no matter what. Don't get your hopes up, Aether. Only idiots do that.
[And he was one of those idiots. And he's not going to do that again.]
Kissing my forehead is not the right way to know me better.
I don't think it's nonsense at all. I know that friendship will be different, I know it will take time, but that doesn't discourage me at all. Why should it? Especially when everyone I've met so far was willing to hear me out and give me a chance.
Aren't you giving me a chance, too?
Besides, you are well aware that the kiss on the forehead was unintentional! I'll make sure to find a proper way to get to know you better.
[Gullible or not, he's not giving up. He has nothing to lose anyway.]
I think my fate doesn't differ from the fate of the me you got to know in your Teyvat. Then you know it is foolish to chase something like that. Getting to know me better, that is.
[He's not friendship material. Or kissing material. Every time anyone makes an attempt to get closer, the best thing he can do is widen the distance.]
Or did the other me become your friend?
[He knows himself rather well and he can't friendship himself out of a paper bag.]
We are both stubborn and we both have a lot of time. Yet the difference is, if your journey resembles that of Lumine, you have a purpose. For me. I guess there is no other choice than to leave it up to fate.
And one day I will settle all debts, just like the version of me you know will do.
{ while he may call lumine first, aether isn't forgotten. perhaps it's cruel to be delivering this news by phone call, but he doesn't have it in himself to go out just yet. guilt is already overwhelming given he's all too aware of the upset he's caused now.
likely about to cause again, as the phone rings and his stomach sinks all the more as he waits for the other to pick up. when he finally does, he recites the same greeting as he has to others. }
Aether, do you have time to talk at the moment?
{ there's no greeting of hello, and can definitely be heard as something Serious from his tone. }
[Aether hasn't heard from Ayato for some time now and considering Thoma's poor state, the commissioner could have gotten into some trouble. Still, Aether has too little information to make any real guesses.
The call from Ayato comes completely unexpected and despite the seriousness of the other's tone, Aether finds himself relieved to hear his voice.
Something bad must have really happened, he confirms to himself.]
Yes. Anything you need to talk about, I'm here. We could also meet up somewhere if you'd rather discuss something with me in person.
{ he has no idea who has or hasn't tried to contact him while he's been gone. 'gone' seems to be putting it lightly, but it's the easiest way to process it. }
Oh. I... suppose that makes sense. { and the fact it didn't really occur to him that it may be better to deliver this news in person is probably a bit worrying in itself.
but he's struggling to think past the logic of what needs to be done about the thing. }
[It's concerning that Ayato didn't think to talk in person earlier. He must be really out of it... but what could've happened for him to end up this way?
Aether doesn't want to waste time. He sets off right away and it won't be too long before he appears at the Kamisato's footsteps.
There's a concerned frown on his face as he knows on the door and waits.]
{ he has to be careful as he moves around the house, preparing the kettle so they can have tea - anything to focus on that isn't the memories that haunt him. he hasn't slept yet. one day down, two more to go until he'll have to. he's hoping he will have some answers by then though.
the fact that he doesn't even recognise how much time has passed when the door knocks is proof he's struggling, but he'll answer the door, opening it and probably looking atrocious nonetheless. he still looks well kept, in the sense his hair is brushed and he's dressed, but his eyes likely seem a bit unfocused. }
[Aether waits for the door to open as uneasiness starts gnawing at his stomach. When he finally sees Ayato inviting him inside, the bad feelings don't disappear. How could they, when the other's eyes betray how there's something very wrong going on.]
Of course.
[There's no "hello", just a small nod as Aether enters. He allows himself further into the apartment (taking the shoes off) and waits for the other to join him.
{ every step just seems more like clockwork than ayato being mentally present, at least at the moment as he goes through the motions of setting up. he indicates for aether to follow him to the kitchen though, moving away from the other rooms in case either of them come home/get up. }
Would you like tea?
{ except when he starts to pour hot water into the tea pot, he forgot the tea leaves- }
{ thankfully he'd put the boiling kettle down by the time aether reaches out, his hand pressing against his back and he flinches. there's a sharp intake of breath as his eyes close, and his fingers move to rest on the counter.
he has to remind himself this touch is human--it isn't anything dangerous. it isn't there to hurt him. it doesn't silence him. it doesn't stun him, poison him-- }
There really isn't an easy way to say it.
{ but even if he starts with that, it's hard to get the words out again. like his mouth is full of cotton wool. }
[He keeps his hand there, unsure if it's helping but hoping it would and that a gentle touch like this would be able to reassure Ayato that Aether is here for him.
But the words that are finally spoken by the other come like a violent cold wave. They freeze his blood and make his heart drop. It takes him a moment to realize that he's stopped breathing.]
You... died... [He repeats and the thought sounds so unrealistic, so impossible, that Aether wants to question it.
But then he remembers Thoma. He remembers how depressed he looked when Aether visited him. He remembers how badly he tried to hide something from him.
So he knew... He knew that Ayato died.]
But... you came back. [He's still feeling dizzy from this revelation. His hand falls from Ayato's back and tries to press against the other's hand instead, as if to check if he's indeed alive.] Are you... Does it hurt anywhere? Do you need something? [Helplessness hits him.
{ he doesn't have the heart to tell him it's too soon, and that the touch makes his skin crawl more than he'd like.
instead, he swallows. closes his eyes and takes a deep breath and then resumes trying to make the tea. the leaves are poured into the strainer. as long as aether doesn't try and make any sharp movements he'll be okay.
he has enough time while aether processes it to place the kettle back down before the other reaches for his hand instead. }
I knew I would. Someone happened to day on the social network before. I just wasn't sure of how long it would take, or where it would be I'd come back. { there's little warmth to his voice, but it sounds level. } And no. My body is fine.
{ maybe it seems distant, but he's coping like this. } But I thought you should know.
[There's so many things going through his head right now, so many questions that he wishes to ask. Not to mention that he would want to tell Ayato to forget about the tea and sit down with him or let him pull him into an embrace.
But eventually Aether realizes his friend needs time. He's only came back and the traveler can't even begin to imagine how traumatic it would be to experience your own death. Aether slowly pulls his hand away and takes a step back to give Ayato more space. His gaze is still as concerned but he accepts that what's done is done.]
I... I see. [A soft sigh makes it past his lips.] I won't ask any more question about this topic, just this one: are you in danger right now?
[He's doesn't want to ask directly what the cause of death was.]
{ in truth, it hasn't even been a full day. he's trying to do too much at once, trying to pretend everything is fine--partly because he needs to do the work for this (to report to olwen, to pass on information) before it becomes too late--and he won't be able to if he lets himself crumble now. }
Not right now, no. At least... not as long as anyone doesn't enter that place. If they try to, it wouldn't just be me in trouble.
...I'll talk more clearly about it when I've had the time to process it.
{ there's a lot he isn't saying. that he had to watch kaveh die first. that it will likely forever be ingrained in his memory, as a time he failed a friend and how horrific it was on top of that. kaveh hallucinating alhaitham being there and his cries of pain are going to give him nightmares.
[It's an honest answer that actually scares him. It feels like there's so much more that he doesn't know about, horrors that are left unspoken and he can do nothing for his friend. There's nothing to ease his pain.
But Aether doesn't give in easily.]
How about we drink some tea... and I'll prepare you something to eat.
[Perhaps tiny things will be a good start.]
You could also lie down for a bit. I promise I won't go anywhere. I'll be by your side.
[So Thoma is here? Of course he is. Aether can imagine he rushed here as fast as he could to see Ayato again. He definitely needs rest, too.
Aether nods.]
Just tea. But make sure you get something to eat later, okay? Actually, I can make some snacks for you... and for Thoma, so he could eat something once he wakes up.
{ of course he is, aether likely doesn't realise how difficult it was to just get out of bed to leave him to rest, given he's been a koala for the majority of the past day. }
Later, I will. But it would help him, I think, to not have to worry about that right now.
In that case, let's have our tea first, then I'll cook something nice for the two of you. I've learnt quite a few recipes from various nations I visited...
[And so they have tea, as Aether tries to change the subject to Teyvat, its cuisine and wonderful views that he saw during his travels. It's just something to fill the silence in hopes that it will take Ayato's mind off the tragic events, even if only for a moment.
Once they finish their tea, the traveler prepares the food as he promised. He opts for traditional Inazuman dishes, wishing that the familiar flavours would bring some sort of comfort to his friends. There's a soup, tightly closed so it would retain its warmth for longer. There are also some traditional snacks, so it would be easy to grab them at any moment.
This is the only thing Aether can do right now and as much as he wishes he was able to do more, he understands that this is not how the world works. His friends need time and it's time for him to leave and let them have their space.]
I apologize but I don't remember much from our meeting. I'm doing okay now! I really didn't mean to get so drunk and if I did or said something weird, I apologize for that too.
I just wanted to check on you and make sure you were doing okay. Really. I'm glad you seem to be in much better control. You didn't do or say anything much except for one thing that kind of concerned me.
I think it was something along the lines of, 'I'm good at fixing problems.' Then you proceeded to get up to try and fix my food order because I didn't like it.
I had you sit down and eat and drink water, but I just thought that was a peculiar thing to say.
[He stares at the text for a moment, before laughing at himself. He really didn't know what he was doing, huh.]
Back home I'm used to helping people. I often get commissions from Adventurer's Guild and generally whenever someone needs help with anything, I'm happy to assist.
I'm always travelling so doing those requests is also beneficial to me.
Of course. Which is why it's important that there are people willing to help.
[And he can be just that person, even if it is exhausting to be relied on all the time.]
I'm not alone, many of my friends ended up here as well. Perhaps you met some of them? There's my twin sister - Lumine; Venti the bard; Kaeya and Amber who are knights from the city of Mondstadt, Yoimiya who organized the beach party, Ayato, Ayaka and Thoma from the Kamisato household... Oh, Ayato is the Otherwordly Ambassador here. Ayaka, on the other hand, opened a teahouse recently. I work there as well. And Thoma does, too. If you ever need some tea, please come visit.
...But the list is much longer than this. Really, I can't say I'm lonely here.
Oh. I know a lot of those names. I actually live in a house with Venti and Lumine. I didn't realize you two were siblings. I also know pretty much everyone you mentioned aside from Kaeya and Amber?
Maybe you can meet him some other time. It's good for everyone to be familiar with each other. Within reason.
It's surprisingly not that crazy. I think all of us tend to be busier outside, so I don't have much time to talk to Venti or Lumine. I'm sure they have their own things going.
[ Aether will receive a nice and intricate midnight blue box with gold ribbons delivered to him by a local courier service in the morning. Inside are snacks, but prior to opening the box, Aether will find a card.
In neat and beautiful handwriting, the card reads:
To my dearest friend, Aether,
It is in this nation that I feel our bond has grown stronger. Perhaps my feelings are already known to you, but I have looked up to you since the day we met. You have a good heart, and your compassion for others is worth admiring. I don't believe that we would have had the chance to discuss topics we have here, were we in Inazuma. The circumstances just would not have given us an opportunity to do so. Is it strange to be grateful in this mystical world because of it?
Today would have been just another day, if not for certain factors. One of it was meeting you. My experiences with you has widened my horizons some, and I do not think I would be who I am today if not for you. I'm very glad to be your friend, Aether.
As such, please accept this present on this special day to commemorate our friendship. Just as you have always been there for me and my family, please know that you may always come to me if you are troubled or need company.
I pray to the Electro Archon that you will have a wonderful day.

I think I can take a break now and get back to others later, if you're still willing to go for that walk? I can be at Blossomcrown Park in around twenty minutes if that isn't too soon.
un: traveler
Sure! I'll be there.
text -> action
{ since he'd been at home when he'd made the announcement, he does need to take some time to make his way to the teleporter and beyond. blossomcrown park, at least, isn't the furthest away if you know the right shortcuts.
he has pulled on an off-white jacket--one that ayaka picked out for him--on top of the black turtleneck top and plain black pull on shoes. in fact, the jacket is the only splash of colour--a stark contrast to his clothes from home. at the moment the weather seems pleasant enough that he didn't feel the need to dress more warmly.
he does, at least remember his phone.
he does not, however, remember an umbrella for how finicky the weather has been lately.
when aether arrives, he'll step away from the entrance to meet him. }
I hope you've started to settle in a little more since we last spoke?
action!
[Not many of them remembered him, but he's slowly reconnecting with them.]
no subject
granted, his new title may have changed that, but it still doesn't change the fact he dislikes public appearances, as much as they may be necessary at times. }
That's a relief. I probably should have mentioned some of the others, though I could understand the urgency to see your sister.
{ and in all honesty, he has no idea who knows who. he could never have given aether a list to be prepared for. }
no subject
And so did his sister.]
no subject
granted, it's hard to tell anything is wrong at all. as commissioner he's learned to keep composed no matter the situation, to play the lines he needs to for the best outcome.
it turned out that thoma and ayaka remembered me.
he'd known about ayaka for a few weeks by now. he hadn't dared to ask thoma a thing. blissful ignorance, as it were. }
They'll be fine with time, I'm sure. { his voice stays calm and collected, but it's hard to focus other than automatically continuing on. } After all, I'm sure they're equally as curious as I am about you.
no subject
So for now, Aether merely nods.]
I'm sure of it.
[Then he continues on.]
They're all just the same as I remember them. They remember the same things I do... just not with me in the picture.
[It's like with Wanderer trying to erase his existence from the world. Even though he was no longer there, the results of the events remained unchanged and the people Aether were still there, just like he remembered them. So perhaps this is exactly why no matter if it's him or his sister, the world and its events stayed just the same.
It's not something he can tell Ayato though.]
no subject
except making the blur of thoughts whirling through his head, threatening to spill out. if anything, it's selfish to think he should be concerned about this. aether and lumine both have countless people who don't remember them. and yet-- }
Exactly as I understood it, yes. Ayaka recounted her experiences to me when we first realised we knew of a different traveler each. It may not have been in detail, but it was enough to confirm my suspicions that the stories aligned to a point. Since you are different people I imagine words exchanged would have differed, but no one's memory is good enough to recount that.
no subject
Does... it bother you?
[Aether's voice is quiet when he asks that, his brows furrow up a little in concern.]
Does it bother you that Ayaka and Thoma don't remember the same things you do?
[He understands. It means they are not the same Ayaka and Thoma that have been by Ayato's side, yet they are exactly the same, with the same goals, worries, the same smiles. It's complicated.]
no subject
it's hardly a secret what the both of them mean to him. }
Perhaps more than it should. After all, I imagine you feel it even more. { and really he needs time to sit down and let this sink in as well. even if it's not unexpected. } It must hurt, surely, for people who you've come to see as a dear friend say they don't remember you. I'm not so cruel to make this about me right now.
no subject
As for Ayaka and Thoma, I'm sure they cherish and love you just the same way they did back in Inazuma.
no subject
he isn't sure he would have been quite so open to it had ayaka not shared the details either. it offers only guilt as aether kindly reaches for his hands, holds them and squeezes them in his own. his eyes dip down to watch, and really it's amusing that even through the gloves there's a mockery of warmth that spills between them--the effects of this world ever present.
he opens his mouth to respond, (how can i be sad about this?) because he can think of a number of reasons. it's obvious in the way they speak to one another now, friends yes but there's a thin veil of stepping on egg shells where neither of them really know how things will feel.
and it's only more prevalent when aether continues to talk. }
Being here certainly changes things. { but this time he allows his voice to sound as distant as it feels } It's a wonder what being away from home can do, isn't it? Though I'd agree it isn't necessarily a bad thing. { half the conversation is with himself though, so he won't blame aether if some of this doesn't make sense.
and as if the skies pity them both, small patters of water start to drop. }
no subject
[He grins a little, trying as much as possible to add a positive to this difficult situation.]
no subject
but at least aether gives him that hook, that lifeline of sorts, to hold onto. he laughs, a small chuckle under his breath as he thinks about that comment properly. }
How could we not? You're both rather charming in your own ways.
no subject
I'm glad you think so. [The rain is still but a drizzle, but it already managed to soak Aether's hair enough to make it stick to his face. His golden eyes seem to shine.] Hopefully, you won't change your mind once you get to know me better.
[A soft laugh escapes him at his own joke.
The rain remains ignored for the time being as if acknowledging it would ruin this gentle moment.]
no subject
I very much doubt that will be the case. After all you've done for us, it would be rather nonsensical.
{ even if the way things were is different, it doesn't change the fact in some world he is very much indebted to aether.
the rain is doing good work on both of them by now though, enough that even he can't really hide uncomfortable it is as his hair sticks to his face and neck. both of them should have known better to come out without an umbrella, especially when there's that feeling of warmth under his gloves from where their hands are still connected. }
no subject
He stands on his toes, as if trying to get even closer.]
no subject
{ his voice seems to be becoming more of a murmur though, as though he's dazed. even when he blinks the rainwater seems to stay heavier now. really, the way this world worked was incredibly unfair at times. for someone who had been so touch starved in inazuma, it feels all too easy to give in to the temptation when the rain makes his skin sing for it. }
You'll always be welcome.
{ and then he feels himself drawn further forward towards the warmth before he can think at all. it's impulsion that has him leaning until his lips meet aether's, firm but not harsh, and only after a few long moments when the tingling on his mouth seems to cease does he pull back. }
no subject
...But the other part of him is dazed, longing for the warmth that is between them.
[He's trying so badly to ignore what just happened and stay calm!!]
no subject
And here I thought you'd spent all this time hoping for it. Not to worry, we can keep it our little secret. { he glances up after, frowning at the rain. } It does seem as though our walk will have to be cut short, however.
no subject
[Is that how he looked like?! He didn't even realize, but the teasing makes him blush all the more. Even the tips of his ears burn red and he can feel that.
The fact that Ayato does not seem affected by what just happened in any way adds up to Aether's embarrassment, but he's trying to ignore it.]
Let's go find some shelter from the rain...
[He wishes so badly to hide somewhere right now.]
no subject
Likely a good idea, otherwi-- { and then he's turning his head away to sneeze } otherwise it will likely not end well.
{ he gestures towards the path towards the teleporter, already stepping to head off that way. }
I'd expected this would have stopped by now.
no subject
But Aether looks worried when Ayato sneezes.]
Let's go. Ayaka and Thoma won't be happy if you get sick because of me.
[Leaving as fast as possible it is!]
no subject
I doubt they'd blame you for it. After all, I've forgotten an umbrella fairly often.
{ the few days megumi spent with them and nagged him about it he'd started to remember, but he's been awfully forgetful of small things like this lately. it's a wonder he has his phone with him half the time. }
no subject
[But he smiles. He doesn't think either Ayaka or Thoma would truly blame him or Ayato for anything. Still, he doesn't want them to worry. Or Ayato to actually get sick here.]
We're close to the teleporter now.
[Thankfully.]
no subject
{ it takes a lot for that to happen, aether please. }
But I would much rather not get sick.
{ he won't mention he'd had to call on thoma a couple of days ago to fetch him an umbrella as he got caught in the exact same park -- so maybe out of the two of them thoma would have more reason to be exasperated with him. }
You're right though, as soon as we're in the city it should be safer.
no subject
Still... I wanted you to take a break, but the rain completely spoiled it.
[He's definitely disappointed, but then his face gets a little red again. Ah, memories returning in the right moment.
Thankfully, they will be out of the rain soon and right into a drier place.]
I think the city should have some warnings for this kind of weather.
[It would've been nice if they did!]
no subject
{ of course, his act would be more convincing if another sneeze didn't make itself known, and he has to twist to sneeze into his arm. }
no subject
[Then he looks up and catches that sadness in Ayato's eyes. Is it really there or is it just more teasing?!]
Ah, i-it wasn't--
[Before he gets to answer Ayato sneezes and Aether reaches out to him.]
We really should get somewhere warm and dry as soon as possible!
no subject
Do you have a change of clothes yet, or do you still only have your clothes from home?
no subject
Alright. We better move fast.
[As for the clothes...]
Well, I made plans to go shopping with Lumine...
[Which means he does not have any spare clothes yet. So many other things were on his mind!]
no subject
{ he isn't bothered he didn't pick any out for himself, he hadn't had the patience to at the time. he definitely needs to go again at some point though. }
My clothes may be a little big for you, but I may have something that could work. It wouldn't be good for you to get warm only to be stuck without anything to wear.
no subject
Is this going to be a pattern?!]
no subject
{ at least the last he knew lumine had been headed there. since aether knew him and the others, they've clearly both made it as far as there. }
Oh?
{ the way he flushes and cuts himself off is rather telling of some of what he's thinking.
and it's a little alarming when he feels a small stabbing feeling of jealousy, even if he shouldn't because he knows the same just happened here. }
I can't say I'm surprised. He wouldn't want you to get sick either.
{ once they're at the teleporter he'll hit the keys to get them back }
no subject
I've been to Sumeru, too, before appearing here.
So he follows the other easily, happy to be out of the rain.]
no subject
{ but he won't push for more information, they'll tell him what he needs to know -or at least he hopes so given the state of things.
and no teasing will come on the subject, as he struggles with himself over that awful feeling that rushed through him at the comment. }
That he is. { aether is not imagining it that his words are a little more clipped. not unfriendly, just as though he's distracted--thinking about something else. as soon as they see the apartment block ahead, he'll make a beeline for it, indicating for aether to keep up. }
no subject
After a moment, he has to ask thought.]
Did I... say something wrong?
[Is it... about Thoma?]
no subject
It isn't your fault, don't worry. Something just occurred to me, that is all.
{ he's never really had that feeling before. protectiveness? of course. but this is another level he hadn't expected, and since he's pretty much done the same it definitely seems silly to let that feeling continue, it's more analysing what it felt like and the connotations of it more than anything else. }
no subject
...It's about Thoma, isn't it?
[Maybe it's just a hunch, but at the same time he can't really think of anything else. The change happened when he mentioned Thoma and blushed remembering their encounter in the rain.
Then it hits him.
Is Ayato bothered about Thoma and Aether kissing? But... the other wasn't bothered when he kissed the traveler? So maybe this isn't it?]
no subject
{ he sighs, glancing away. they need to keep walking though, even if they've come out the other side now. the rain isn't here, but they're already wet from it. }
It is though, yes. About Thoma, I mean. { his gaze stays fixed ahead, looking down the street they need to travel down towards the apartments. } I'm rational to know the rain is at fault, Aether, so you needn't worry about it. It was just interesting to feel jealousy in this context.
no subject
[He says.] People should be able to reserve their kisses for those they care about the most.
no subject
At least it was a fairly innocent kiss.
text | un: wanderer
I am not in need of any sort of company, all I need is an answer to some questions.
1. You are from a parallel universe, I take it that this means that there is also a parallel version of every person you have met, not?
2. Can you tell me what part Irminsul plays in all of this? Is it connected to the Teyvat I know and the one you know? Or are there also two Irminsul trees?
3. Are there others able to change their fate the way you have done?
We have all the time in the world. So do take yours.
no subject
As for your questions:
1. Yes, but it appears that the events in both versions of Teyvat are exactly the same.
2. I'm not sure. I guess it is possible that each parallel world has its own Irminsul.
3. Perhaps the reason why I can change my fate is because I am not from Teyvat, thus I am not bound by its rules. There's still too much that I don't know, but if I'll learn something useful I'll make sure to let you know.
no subject
[He needs to think about those answers for a bit so the other message comes in later.]
But your role isn't.
[More thinking.]
It might mean both the Irmunsul trees are connected. Perhaps by their roots. Therefore the fates of those coming from Teyvat are predetermined and yours is not.
Isn't it odd to meet those you know from your Teyvat, and they only know your sister as their companion?
no subject
Your theory may be right, but then again I don't know enough about Irminsul to really tell.
It's very odd to meet someone who you were friends with, only to find out that they remember your lost sister instead. But I suppose Lumine felt just like me. It's good that we both have people who remember us here.
no subject
There's only so much things he could ruin.]
no subject
Bonds are important to me, yes. However...
I believe that if I managed to befriend someone once, I have a good chance to do it again. They're exactly the same people as I remember them. I'm happy that Lumine got to meet them.
...And the same goes for you. I wish for us to get to know one another better.
no subject
That is nonsense. They might be the same people, you are not their same friend. Perhaps their fates are the same, yet you are the one that differs. And if they accept your offer of friendship, that might differ.
[A couple of minutes later the second message arrives.]
How gullible to think that everyone would accept your friendship no matter what. Don't get your hopes up, Aether. Only idiots do that.
[And he was one of those idiots. And he's not going to do that again.]
Kissing my forehead is not the right way to know me better.
no subject
Aren't you giving me a chance, too?
Besides, you are well aware that the kiss on the forehead was unintentional! I'll make sure to find a proper way to get to know you better.
[Gullible or not, he's not giving up. He has nothing to lose anyway.]
no subject
[He's not friendship material. Or kissing material. Every time anyone makes an attempt to get closer, the best thing he can do is widen the distance.]
Or did the other me become your friend?
[He knows himself rather well and he can't friendship himself out of a paper bag.]
no subject
But I'm stubborn and I have a lot of time.
[Obviously, you won't be able to resist his friendship for years?!]
no subject
We are both stubborn and we both have a lot of time. Yet the difference is, if your journey resembles that of Lumine, you have a purpose. For me. I guess there is no other choice than to leave it up to fate.
And one day I will settle all debts, just like the version of me you know will do.

likely about to cause again, as the phone rings and his stomach sinks all the more as he waits for the other to pick up. when he finally does, he recites the same greeting as he has to others. }
Aether, do you have time to talk at the moment?
{ there's no greeting of hello, and can definitely be heard as something Serious from his tone. }
no subject
The call from Ayato comes completely unexpected and despite the seriousness of the other's tone, Aether finds himself relieved to hear his voice.
Something bad must have really happened, he confirms to himself.]
Yes. Anything you need to talk about, I'm here. We could also meet up somewhere if you'd rather discuss something with me in person.
no subject
Oh. I... suppose that makes sense. { and the fact it didn't really occur to him that it may be better to deliver this news in person is probably a bit worrying in itself.
but he's struggling to think past the logic of what needs to be done about the thing. }
Could you come to us in Sunwaning?
no subject
[It's concerning that Ayato didn't think to talk in person earlier. He must be really out of it... but what could've happened for him to end up this way?
Aether doesn't want to waste time. He sets off right away and it won't be too long before he appears at the Kamisato's footsteps.
There's a concerned frown on his face as he knows on the door and waits.]
no subject
the fact that he doesn't even recognise how much time has passed when the door knocks is proof he's struggling, but he'll answer the door, opening it and probably looking atrocious nonetheless. he still looks well kept, in the sense his hair is brushed and he's dressed, but his eyes likely seem a bit unfocused. }
Come in.
no subject
Of course.
[There's no "hello", just a small nod as Aether enters. He allows himself further into the apartment (taking the shoes off) and waits for the other to join him.
He'll sit down once Ayato is by his side.]
no subject
Would you like tea?
{ except when he starts to pour hot water into the tea pot, he forgot the tea leaves- }
no subject
It's okay, we can just talk.
[He can't really takes it much longer, so he reaches out, his hand gently settling on the other's back.]
What happened? You're... not acting like yourself.
no subject
he has to remind himself this touch is human--it isn't anything dangerous. it isn't there to hurt him. it doesn't silence him. it doesn't stun him, poison him-- }
There really isn't an easy way to say it.
{ but even if he starts with that, it's hard to get the words out again. like his mouth is full of cotton wool. }
I... I died.
no subject
His friend died and he didn't even know.]
no subject
instead, he swallows. closes his eyes and takes a deep breath and then resumes trying to make the tea. the leaves are poured into the strainer. as long as aether doesn't try and make any sharp movements he'll be okay.
he has enough time while aether processes it to place the kettle back down before the other reaches for his hand instead. }
I knew I would. Someone happened to day on the social network before. I just wasn't sure of how long it would take, or where it would be I'd come back. { there's little warmth to his voice, but it sounds level. } And no. My body is fine.
{ maybe it seems distant, but he's coping like this. } But I thought you should know.
no subject
But eventually Aether realizes his friend needs time. He's only came back and the traveler can't even begin to imagine how traumatic it would be to experience your own death. Aether slowly pulls his hand away and takes a step back to give Ayato more space. His gaze is still as concerned but he accepts that what's done is done.]
I... I see. [A soft sigh makes it past his lips.] I won't ask any more question about this topic, just this one: are you in danger right now?
[He's doesn't want to ask directly what the cause of death was.]
no subject
Not right now, no. At least... not as long as anyone doesn't enter that place. If they try to, it wouldn't just be me in trouble.
...I'll talk more clearly about it when I've had the time to process it.
no subject
Of course. I can barely imagine how difficult it must be for you right now, so please, take your time.
[He presses a hand to his own chest.]
Thank you for telling me... But you look tired. Maybe there's something I can do for you? Anything I can get you?
[He wants to change the subject for now. There has to be something he can do for Ayato.]
no subject
so he doesn't sleep. simple, isn't it? }
I don't know.
{ it's an honest answer, at least. }
no subject
But Aether doesn't give in easily.]
How about we drink some tea... and I'll prepare you something to eat.
[Perhaps tiny things will be a good start.]
You could also lie down for a bit. I promise I won't go anywhere. I'll be by your side.
no subject
I don't want to eat, but tea would be nice.
{ tea is a reminder of ayaka, an anchor to ground himself. but he shakes his head at the rest. }
I don't want to wake Thoma. He needs rest. Just tea will be fine.
{ at least it's actually stewing now. }
no subject
Aether nods.]
Just tea. But make sure you get something to eat later, okay? Actually, I can make some snacks for you... and for Thoma, so he could eat something once he wakes up.
no subject
Later, I will. But it would help him, I think, to not have to worry about that right now.
no subject

Wait, isn't this Ayaka-san?

no subject
And you are?
no subject
But it's nice to meet you, Aether-san! My name is Ruby Hoshino and I'm an idol!
no subject
It's nice to meet you, Ruby. Is being an idol difficult? I have a friend who is a deaconess and she's a local idol in her town as well.
no subject
At least I can find a group of people who are willing to sing with me.
no subject
Was Ayaka your first choice?
no subject
Anyway, she was! But she didn't agree to it unless there were some friends with her. So now I'll have to see who else might be willing!
no subject
Anyway, good luck with your search!
no subject
But you happen to know anyone who can sing?
no subject
no subject
I want to figure out how I can start an idol group here!
no subject
Good luck on your search!

I apologize but I don't remember much from our meeting. I'm doing okay now! I really didn't mean to get so drunk and if I did or said something weird, I apologize for that too.
no subject
I just wanted to check on you and make sure you were doing okay. Really. I'm glad you seem to be in much better control. You didn't do or say anything much except for one thing that kind of concerned me.
no subject
But... what did I say that was so concerning? I really can't recall much.
no subject
I had you sit down and eat and drink water, but I just thought that was a peculiar thing to say.
no subject
Back home I'm used to helping people. I often get commissions from Adventurer's Guild and generally whenever someone needs help with anything, I'm happy to assist.
I'm always travelling so doing those requests is also beneficial to me.
no subject
That's a lot of responsibility. Is there a reason you have to carry all of that?
no subject
Though, obviously, I wouldn't leave a friend in need or a stranger in distress.
no subject
[But it takes a toll. He wonders if the other feels the same, but he wouldn't just ask a stranger that he met that, so he changes the subject.]
Are you here alone, or do you have people from your world here with you?
no subject
Really, I can't say I'm lonely here.
no subject
no subject
I'm also not surprised you know most of them. They were at the party and they work hard in this world, too... Except for Venti. He never works hard.
But jokes aside, they're all good people and my treasured friends.

I guess I will, sooner or later. How do you like living there? I can imagine with Venti around there is a lot going on.
no subject
It's surprisingly not that crazy. I think all of us tend to be busier outside, so I don't have much time to talk to Venti or Lumine. I'm sure they have their own things going.
no subject
I see. Everybody is busy with their own things.

sept 28. special delivery!
Yours truly,
Kamisato Ayaka ]
